Welcome to Brinktop. This place is where we live, grow grapes and make wine. From day one, we were optimistic about the potential of this site. It is an ideal viticultural site in the south east corner of the Coal River Valley Wine Region, Tasmania.

Owners, growers & makers

Brinktop Vineyard is planted on the old Killara Farm at Penna. Built from the ground up, our wines now champion the terroir and express the vital nature of this place. They are all single site, hand crafted wines made from hand-picked fruit and carefully selected clones.

Rocky slopes, facing an idyllic east-north-east, keep harsh afternoon sun away from the grapes; depth in fruit flavour is delivered from mineral rich dolerite soils; and summer afternoon sea breezes, from nearby Frederick Henry Bay, cool the site and aid in retaining perfume and freshness in the wines.

Wine Tours to Brinktop

You can also visit Brinktop by coming on a Wine Tour and our favourites are Stelavino and Ageing Barrel. Stel Cusmiani has been working in the wine business for over 40 years and has a wealth of knowledge about the industry that he willingly shares. He is unfailingly enthusiastic, he loves going behind the scenes and going out of his way to ensure his guests have a good day. Email Stelavino Wine Tours or phone Stel on 0434 411 542. Sharon and Guarin Marsh have been running Ageing Barrel Wine Tours in Tasmania for many years now and are equally passionate about wine and Tassie Wine in particular. They will guarantee you a classy experience.

lutruwita (Tasmania)

We acknowledges theAboriginal people as the traditional owners of lutruwita (Tasmania), our island home. We thank and pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal communities, elders past and present and recognise their deep and spiritual connection to this amazing place.

We also thank the Iles family who farmed dairy cows, pigs and sheep on this land for almost 100 years and had an intimate relationship with the Brinktop (Killara Farm) dirt. We know how hard they worked and love the photos they have shared with us of the family at work on the farm.

We thank the Iles family who farmed Killara for many decades before we arrived and who have shared their photos and stories of this place.
