. . and we have been growing grapes and making wine in the Coal River Valley since 1999. Brinktop is our second vineyard project. We came here in 2017 and have put our heart and soul into this place, building it from the ground up. We grow the grapes, make the wine and live here.

Brinktop is an exceptional viticultural site and we are passionate about making wine from here. Our grapes are hand picked and hand crafted. Each year we build on our relationship with the vineyard as we pick the grapes, make the wine and see what the vineyard has delivered and this is our inspiration.

Vines are planted on steep rocky slopes, facing an idyllic east-north-east which keep harsh afternoon sun away from the grapes; depth in fruit flavour is delivered from mineral rich dolerite soils; and summer afternoon sea breezes, from nearby Frederick Henry Bay, cool the site and aid in retaining perfume and freshness in the wines.

About us .. we met in the middle of Turkey backpacking in 1990. Todd was a petro-chemical engineer and Gill was a greenie who’d studied botany, environmental science and zoology at UTAS and fought to save the Franklin River. We have come a long way. Gill wanted to be a horticulturalist and Todd was dreaming of making wine.
